Yves Rasch, *1979 Hamburg, lives in Groß Schmölen (Mecklenburg)
Wood is the sculptor Yves Rasch's very own material, which he transforms in a sculptural process into abstract biomorphic forms that work with the natural attraction and irregularity of the material. When the artist transfers individual works into the material bronze, he expands the found form and creates something independently new from it: "Detached from its material-related transience, a form emerges that withdraws from the viewer who gets too close to it and leaves him with his own reflection. In its materiality, bronze is at once beautiful, a reliable witness to the idea of form and a mirror of its environment. I see the essence of form in my bronzes.
