Eating burgers in Munich
Juicy patty, flavorful sauces, melting cheese and a soft yet crispy bun - all this makes the perfect burger. Best served with fries. But with so many burger joints to choose from in Munich, it can sometimes be difficult to make a decision. That's why we've diligently tried our way through and now present our current 7 favorite burger joints in the city.
The Rustic - Burger House
Regional beef from Bavarian Alpine cows, home-baked buns and homemade sauces: welcome to Burger House. In addition to the classic burger variations, gourmets also get their money's worth here, with burger extras such as buffalo mozzarella, truffle or portobello mushroom on the menu. The rustic atmosphere and delicious burgers are well received: Patricia and Nicolas Hegewisch opened their first burger house in Haidhausen in 2012 and there are now seven restaurants in Munich.
The bread roll miracle - Fresh Kitchen
The Fresh Kitchen is a little insider tip among burger fans. The recipe was perfected over many years until the burger store was able to celebrate its opening in the Au two years ago. You can also taste this attention to detail on site: For one thing, the meat is grilled on charcoal, which gives it a wonderfully smoky aroma. Secondly, the Fresh Kitchen has managed to develop the perfect burger bun. It's fluffy, it's soft, it's crispy - this bun combines everything you could wish for in a bun. The price-performance ratio is good anyway. But if you want to save a bit, we recommend you keep an eye on the Fresh Kitchen special offer days. On Wednesdays, for example, you get a free special with your burger and fries order.
The many - Little Flo
You can never decide which burger you'd like to eat? Would you like to try them all? Then you should pay a visit to Little Flo. The owners of the burger store have copied their concept from Spain and present you with a tapas store for burgers! Instead of a big burger or a portion of fries, you can try out lots of small burger and fries creations. Everything at Kleines Flo is also homemade and regional. We particularly like the fact that environmental protection is a top priority here. With environmentally friendly take-away dishes, glass and bamboo straws, energy-saving measures and nature-friendly order pads, the restaurant is doing its bit for a better future.
The varied one - The Hamburgerei
Both meat and vegetable fans get their money's worth at the Hamburgerei. Flavorful burger creations await you, where you can decide for yourself which patty you fancy - vegans also have a wide choice. Behind the international names such as "The Persian", "The Mexican" or "The Frenchman" are fresh ingredients and different toppings. As a side dish, we recommend the classic, homemade cole slaw, which always goes perfectly with burgers. The concept and taste are very popular in Munich, which is why there are now three burger restaurants in the city.
The Fleshless - Golden Rocket
Vegetarians and vegans usually have a hard time in the world of burgers. There is often only one meat-free option on the menu and it is only half convincing. Things are different at the Goldene Rakete. Here, the creations with and without meat balance each other out. You are spoilt for choice between beet and millet feta patty, smoked organic seitan or pulled jackfruit. The wholemeal bun may take some getting used to for lovers of classic buns, but it is no less delicious. Also highly recommended: the (non-vegan) truffle fries, which you can easily share between two people.
The night owl - Quick love
At Schnellen Liebe, the seemingly impossible is possible - getting something warm to eat late at night in Munich. You could fall in love with this burger joint - and not just for that reason. Only 100 percent Irish beef and fresh ingredients are used on the plates here; in the vegan alternative, the meat is simply replaced by Beyond Meat. The burgers are perfect as the basis for another evening at Schnellen Liebe, as a side dish to the in-house Liquid Cocaine or as a bedtime snack after a drink or two. The dimly lit burger joint in Glockenbach also serves drinks and food until 1 a.m. (!) during the week.
The classic - Ruff's Burger
The story of Ruff's Burger begins in 2007 with the idea of a food truck. The burgers are so popular that the first stationary snack bar is opened in Munich in 2012. The first restaurant followed two years later. Fresh ingredients, a fluffy bun and juicy meat make the perfect, classic burger here. We recommend Belgian fries, which you can pimp with truffle, chilli cheese or guacamole. There is also a new weekly burger to discover every week, bringing a little variety to the menu.
