Brief round of introductions: Who are you and what is your role in the company?
I'm Laureen and together with my team I'm organizing Matching Night, a new series of events for singles all over Germany.
How do you explain what you do to your grandma?
Every month, we organize a relaxed evening at a cool event location where you have the chance to meet up to 250 singles from your city. Using colored wristbands, which all participants receive after a short personality test, you can immediately see who suits you best and why. To make starting a conversation with other singles as easy and entertaining as possible, we have introduced the internationally renowned "Lock & Key" icebreaker element. Each woman is given a key and each man a lock. If the matching key to the lock is found, there's a chance to win great prizes!
How do you make the world a little better or easier?
Life is too short to spend it alone. Especially in times of dating apps, we enable young and old people to finally get to know each other in person again. Without loud music in the background and having swiped left or right 1000 times beforehand, singles can get to know each other in a relaxed bar atmosphere. Even shy singles can easily get into conversation with other people thanks to the icebreaker elements.
Working to live or living to work?
We love connecting people and being involved in helping singles find a happy relationship. That's why we not only work to live, but also live for our work.
How did you come up with the idea?
Thanks to our SpeedDating XXL event series, which has been running for four years now, we know that many singles want to meet someone offline, away from dating apps. At the same time, many singles are also out and about in bars or at parties from time to time, but meeting the right person there is often difficult because you don't know who is single and how to approach the person. Matching Night simplifies the whole thing and makes the search for the right person easy and entertaining.
Where else is the journey going?
As we want to help as many singles as possible to find their dream partner, we will gradually bring the Matching Night to other cities in Germany. So stay tuned to see where we'll be next.
