In the preliminary round - phase 1 - all interested parties will start the competition with a public kick-off event on 27 February and two basic training sessions. In the first training sessions, participants will sharpen their own start-up idea and work out the legal framework for setting up a business in the catering industry. At the end of the preliminary round, everyone can submit an idea paper to qualify for the main round. And then it's time to get started: a jury of experts selects the ten best gastronomy ideas.

At the start of the main round - phase 2 - the ten best teams will be brought together with experienced coaches who will provide them with intensive support on their way to becoming gastronomy professionals. In addition to individual coaching sessions, five further training sessions await the participating teams. The content of these training sessions focuses on in-depth specialist knowledge that is required for a successful start-up in the catering industry. At the end of the main round, the teams write down their gastronomic idea in a business plan and present it in a short pitch in front of a panel of experts.

Participation in the competition is free of charge. What is required is a passion for gastronomy and the willingness to present the concept in a business plan and subsequently implement it at a location in Dortmund. This year's competition starts with a kick-off event on Monday, February 27.
