100 Jahre Chargesheimer | Radtour

In the organizer's words:

Anyone who loves Cologne cannot ignore Chargesheimer. The photographer, who also saw himself as an artist, portrayed Cologne after the Second World War with more passion than almost anyone else. Cologne at heart and with an undisguised view of the little people, he created an oeuvre of tens of thousands of photographs. Chargesheimer died on New Year's Eve 1972, aged just 47.

We follow in his footsteps through the city and seek out the places he helped to immortalize in "Cologne intime", "Unter Krahnenbäumen" and "5.30 Uhr". The illustrated book "Fotogeschichten Kölner Südstadt" by Eusebius Wirdeier, Wolfgang Niedecken and Chargesheimer was recently published by Emons Verlag in Cologne. Proof of the importance of his previously unknown pictures for Cologne.
Notes: We will drive a total of 2.5 hours through the city between Kaiser Wilhelm Ring, Südstadt, UKB and Chargesheimer Platz. Please observe the rules of the road. We ride in a group. The current illustrated book "Fotogeschichten Kölner Südstadt" by Eusebius Wirdeier, Wolfgang Niedecken and Chargesheimer is available in bookshops everywhere. ISBN 978-3-7408-2008-4, 49,95€. Older illustrated books are sometimes sold for four figures.
