100 years of Zissel - North Hesse's largest folk and water festival

Kassel celebrates 100 years of Zissel in 2026. For a century, North Hesse's largest folk and water festival has been bringing people together along the Fulda and is an integral part of Kassel's way of life. What once began as a summertime amusement for Fulle fishermen with boats, music and paper lanterns has developed into one of the region's best-known local festivals.

To this day, the Zissel continues to inspire with its special atmosphere of water, music, funfair and community. The traditional land and water parade, the torchlight float on the Fulda and the ceremonial hoisting of the Zisselhäring are integral parts of the festival. Live music, a varied stage program, unique rides and a wide range of food and drink along the Zisselmeile ensure unforgettable summer moments in the heart of Kassel.
