Born on November 9, two years after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Named after the Eddy Grant song where her parents met in the German-German chamber choir. Her mother from West Berlin, her father from Leipzig, her daughter the best of both worlds: Hope Joanna Marlow. In order to have a chance at the Olympics as a taekwondo fighter, she became a policewoman. The Olympics are now a thing of the past, the Berlin police a thing of the present. A cell phone video showing Hope Joanna overpowering four violent robbers in a pub turns her into a reluctant heroine. But even before she can defend herself against her fame, a mysterious series of murders throws the city into turmoil. A right-wing extremist sect seems to be convinced that Adolf Hitler's legendary escape suitcase, which has been missing since the end of the war, is not just a legend. Among other things, it is said to contain the recipe for a legendary elixir. Young detective Hope Joanna Marlow soon finds herself in a deadly parallel world. Its frenzied and utter madness is only trumped by reality.

Horst Evers originally comes from a village in Lower Saxony, but has lived in Berlin since the late 1980s and studied journalism and German studies.
Before devoting himself to writing, he worked as a cab driver and express delivery man at the post office. He discovered his vocation as a funny storyteller in the mid-1980s during his studies. Together with like-minded people, he founded a satirical magazine and various reading stages and cabaret formats during this time, some of which still exist today (Der Frühschoppen, Der kabarettistische Jahresrückblick). However, his big breakthrough came with his solo shows in the early 2000s. He became known to a very large public through regular appearances on TV (3sat Happy Hour, MDR Spasszone etc.) and not least through his books, almost all of which have achieved bestseller status.
