The Trudering volunteer fire department was founded in 1874 and was initially only equipped with a ladder, a hand pump and a few leather buckets. The equipment was gradually expanded and in 1880 a horse-drawn fire engine was added, and from 1912 there was also a hydrant network.
Since the incorporation of Trudering in 1932, the Munich Fire Department has been responsible for the equipment. However, it was not until 1955 that the fire brigade received modern fire-fighting equipment. In 1972, the Trudering volunteer fire department was one of the first in Munich to be equipped with radio alarm receivers, which enabled the fire brigade to raise the alarm silently.
The Trudering Volunteer Fire Brigade responded to the air crashes of 1958, 1987 and 1989, which occurred in Trudering due to the proximity of Munich-Riem Airport, as well as the hailstorm of 1984 and the bus accident of 1994. Since 1983 it has been based at Truderinger Straße 290 and now has 4 modern emergency vehicles.

The exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the 150-year history of the Trudering fire department. In addition to historical team photos and vehicles, operations from the past decades are also on display. In addition to cheerful events, you can also see operations that make you think.
