19. Ostsee-Traktorentreffen Krokau

On the weekend of August 22 and 23, the area around the Krokau Mill will come alive again: The Oldtimerfreunde Probstei e.V. are hosting their Baltic Sea Tractor Meet and will be demonstrating agricultural and farm equipment from the past 100 years in action.

Over 300 historic vehicles are expected, and a special exhibition titled “From the Scythe to the Combine Harvester” will trace the history of the grain harvest. There’s something happening at almost every turn: threshing, hay raking, bringing in straw, splitting firewood, and sawing. A brush cutter, a rock crusher, a sawmill, and a water-powered brake ensure constant activity, and in the field behind the event, plowing takes place using tracked vehicles and horses.

For children, there are guided tours, and for snacks, regional grilled sausages and a cake tent. New this year is a large paddock with vintage cars and trucks to admire. Inside the spinning windmill, the team from the Probsteier Mill Association demonstrates how grain is turned into flour. Exhibits on topics such as “Electricity in the Countryside,” “Milk,” “Livestock Farming,” and “Hand Tools” invite visitors to linger.

Tech enthusiasts will also find plenty to enjoy: The association is showcasing the oldest known example of a beet-stacking machine, the “Pollert Erdwolf.” A true rarity, it was likely built in Kiel in 1948 or 1949. In addition, the DP8 three-drum threshing machine (without a shaker) will be in operation, and a sawmill over 100 years old will be cutting boards.
