In a joint exhibition at LUX, 19 Bachelor's and 5 Master's graduates from the Interior Design department present their final projects from the winter semester 25/26.
Bachelor - "Golden floor"
Under the title "Goldener Boden" (Golden Floor ), the Bachelor's graduates dealt with the Mainz market houses, a largely unused commercial ensemble from the early 2000s, which is to be rethought and transformed from a place of consumption into a place of education and craftsmanship.
In place of vacant commercial space, a "learning house" is being created in which craft, practical and theoretical training can be seen and experienced in the heart of the city center.
The aim is to sensitively develop the existing building and design new spatial typologies that convincingly interweave learning, working and the public in terms of atmosphere and design.
A particular focus of this semester is on the topic of color and surface.
The content was supervised in cooperation with the Rhineland-Palatinate State Pedagogical Institute.
Master - "Communication in space"
Master's graduates work independently on a project of their own choice in the field of "Communication in Space".
The topics are as diverse as they are unique - sometimes developed from a research interest, sometimes from a practical field of application.
This year's master's theses have the following titles:
Animal City - A spatial system for animal-inclusive urbanity and environmental education.By Marie Schöpf
LOM.A - Acoustic potential of local, biological composites and their creative translation into modular applications.By Noah Hahne
S(ch)ichtwechsel - Communicating equality spatially. A cultural and meeting place based on feminist design principles.By Katharina Schmitz
