Who owns the web? Today, a large proportion of information and entertainment is provided via digital channels on mobile devices. Online is the rapidly growing market for a digitally networked media society. The optimism of democratization - everyone is a receiver and sender - wrestles with the frustration of agitation and hate, fakes and disinformation in an emotional uproar driven by algorithms. How are rules defined and enforced? How can we put a stop to violence and "turbo-radicalization" (Anne Frank Educational Center)? How can we ensure quality and civil exchange online?

This VA is the 2nd online discussion in the series "Journalism under pressure".

The world of media is changing. The industry is reorganizing, good journalism costs money and trust must be maintained and regained.
Media form an infrastructure in democracy: they provide information, background reports and an exchange of opinions. As the "fourth estate", they critically
accompany the work of the administration, parliament and judiciary in the service of the public. What challenges does journalism face?

In four online discussions, we will shed light on the complex changes in our media environment and ask about possible courses of action.

Online participation in ZOOM

You will receive the access data for the Zoom event by e-mail 24 hours and again 2 hours before the event.
You can use either the client program or the app. With the Chrome and Edge browsers, you can participate directly via the access link. You can find more information on how to use Zoom here.

Please make sure that you are using the latest version of Zoom so that you have the necessary settings. For events with audience participation, you will need a microphone and possibly a camera.
