#2 Sotelsek liest Bachmann - Lesung zur Ausstellung: Schreiben gegen den Krieg. Ingeborg Bachmann 1926–1973

As part of our exhibition "Writing against the war. Ingeborg Bachmann 1926-1973", we are organizing four readings with the Austrian actress Barbara Sotelsek ("Schnell ermittelt", "SOKO Köln", "Killing Eve") until mid-August. Barbara Sotelsek follows on from her reading at the exhibition opening and brings Bachmann's literary work back to life.

The title of the second reading is"Speaking across borders".

The second reading in the"Sotelsek reads Bachmann" series is something very special, as Barbara Sotelsek will be reading together with German film and theater actress Karen Böhne. The second reading will focus on the friendships Bachmann cultivated with other female writers. In addition to Bachmann's poems, Sotelsek and Böhne will also read from the Austrian author's correspondence with the writers Marie Luise Kaschnitz, Hilde Domin and Nelly Sachs. This correspondence provides an impressive insight into the living conditions, literary work, poetry and political commitment of women writers after 1945.

The reading will take place on June 20, starting at 7 p.m. at the Austrian Embassy.

Barbara Sotelsek is an Austrian actress, performer and producer who lives in Berlin. After her beginnings at the legendary "Theater in der Josefstadt" in Vienna, she became known as the leading actress in the queer crime series "Hinter Gittern". Since then, she has appeared in numerous international productions, including the Turkish feature film "Son Mektup", the BBC drama series "Killing Eve", "Paint the Dragons' Eyes" by Academy Award winner James Lucas, "Regardless", a Turkish-German-British feature film produced by the team behind "Mustang" (nominated for an Academy Award 2016) and most recently as part of "YOU", a miniseries for SKY /BBC as well as numerous TV and film roles. She created a performance for the "Klangraum Minoritenkirche Krems - Blutspuren" in Austria. As a producer she is working on "Not a Good Man" (USA) and "Ida's Last Travel" (AUS,AUT).

Karen Böhne is a German actress and performer who lives in Berlin. After starting out at the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf and the TAT Frankfurt, she became known for her roles in the TV series "Hinter Gittern". Since then, she has appeared in numerous film and television productions, including "Alphateam", "WaPo Duisburg", the feature film "Jugend ohne Gott" and the Norwegian comedy "Lange Flate Ballaer". She has also participated as a performer in major events such as the Documenta in Kassel, Ars Electronica and the Medusa Festival.
