Straight ahead jazz, high-energy swinging, relaxed grooving, lyrically meandering - together with the evening's star guest Tony Lakatos, Hungarian pianist Zsolt Hosszu's trio explores the full breadth of the genre.

With accessible aesthetic elegance and playful ease of interaction, the four musicians create a musical maelstrom that hardly anyone can escape.

Tony Lakatos was actually supposed to be a violinist - like so many from his Hungarian Roma family, including the legendary János Bihari. However, he switched to the saxophone at 17 and was already playing with his own bands during his studies at the Bartók Conservatory in Budapest. He has performed extensively in Germany since 1980 and was a soloist in the hr-Bigband from 1993 until 2021. His collaborations with international stars are countless - Tony Lakatos can now be heard on over 350 CD releases. Big stars have always played in his bands - a list would go beyond the scope of this text. Tours have taken him to literally all European countries, the USA, Canada, Japan, South America, Israel, Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, China, Lebanon and many other parts of the world.

Zsolt Hosszu made a name for himself on the Hungarian jazz scene in the 2000s after studying classical piano. He has been friends with Tony Lakatos for a long time, has lived in Germany since 2010 and regularly performs with his Hosszu Trio in jazz clubs in Budapest, Prague and Paris.

Wolfgang Kriener is a bassist who has been an integral part of the Franconian jazz scene for decades. Born in 1962, the double bassist studied at the renowned Swiss Jazz School in Bern from 1984 to 1987 and is now one of the busiest bassists in the region. Kriener is known for his warm, swinging and singing tone, with which he has been impressing audiences in a wide variety of formations for more than 35 years - from solo projects to small ensembles and big bands. His ability to combine musical depth with a precise rhythmic foundation is particularly appreciated, making him a sought-after partner.

After classical training on the piano and church organ,Uli Kleideiter declared the drumset to be his main instrument at the age of 20. After lessons and jazz studies in the Netherlands, Freiburg and Würzburg, he became a sought-after partner in numerous formations, touring in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Ireland, Wales, Scotland and Italy. Artists such as Joe Krieg, Michael Arlt, Rudi Engel, Jean-Yves Jung, Wilson De Oliveira, the Weather Girls, Michelle Walker, Hubert Winter, Alberto Menendez, Marcia Bittencourt, the WürzburgArtEnsemble, Margarita Gonzalez and her Orchestra, Olaf Schönborn and many more have enjoyed his wonderful flow and his inspiring musical statements.
