2. Würzburger Gitarrenfestival - 2.10. Stringtime Travellers (D) - Bad Temper Joe (D) - Ladislav Pazdera (CZ)
In the organizer's words:
Three concerts, three extraordinary artists—and countless facets of the guitar: The 2nd Würzburg Guitar Festival invites you on a musical journey of discovery that effortlessly transcends stylistic boundaries. From virtuoso classical music to fingerstyle and gypsy swing to modern blues, the festival impressively demonstrates just how versatile the guitar can be today, both as a solo instrument and as part of an ensemble.
The festival kicks off with the Stringtime Travellers, led by the exceptional guitarist Markus Kohlprath. Together with a top-notch ensemble, they blend Spanish guitar music, fingerstyle, Gypsy swing, classical, and world music into an extraordinary concert experience. Original arrangements and a rich instrumental sound featuring cello, accordion, piano, and vocals turn every concert into a musical journey through different cultures and eras.
Next up on stage is Bad Temper Joe, one of Germany’s most prominent blues musicians. The winner of the German Blues Challenge blends the spirit of Mississippi Delta blues with contemporary songwriting and a compelling stage presence. His music is deeply rooted in tradition yet unmistakably modern—an artist who authentically brings the blues into the 21st century and has long been making waves internationally.
The evening concludes with Ladislav Pazdera, one of Europe’s most exciting fingerstyle guitarists. His music blends jazz, classical, flamenco, Brazilian rhythms, and influences from Eastern Europe and the Middle East into a fascinating musical language. With impressive technique, extraordinary musicality, and his own compositions, Pazdera creates atmospheric soundscapes that regularly receive the highest praise from international music publications.
The 2nd Würzburg Guitar Festival is aimed at guitar lovers as well as anyone curious about extraordinary live music. Three concerts, three distinctive styles, and a shared goal: to bring the guitar to life in all its stylistic diversity and expressive power.
