The Art of F ugue is both a late hieratic work and music full of blood. In this high-contrast program, canons and counterpoints from the famous piece are brought together with works from different eras, from early to modern music, in a richly evocative combination.

Chamber music in its many forms occupies an important place in the orchestral life of the Dortmund Philharmonic. Following the great popularity and positive response, this season we are once again venturing into the city with our tried and tested chamber music series and taking the audience to places where one would not expect to find classical music. The special thing remains: The orchestra musicians themselves put together the programs and perform pieces that are particularly close to their hearts in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Of course, these include chamber music classics, but there are also many unknown and overlooked pieces to discover.
