3. SInfoniekonzert
In the organizer's words:
LESSJA DYTSCHKO (*1939): "Wedding Songs from the Opera Zolotoslov" ZOLTÁN KODÁLY (1882-1967): Dances from Galanta
PYOTR ILYICH TCHAIKOVSKY (1840-1893): Symphony No. 5 in E minor op. 64
The choral opera "Zolotoslov" by Ukrainian composer Lessja Dychko is considered a milestone in music history. The action on stage is shifted to the vocal-choral level. The plot is based on folk sources and old Ukrainian texts. Kodály's dances are also folk-inspired by the music of the Sinti and Roma from the Galanta region.
"Introduction. Complete surrender to fate" is what Tchaikovsky wrote about the first movement of one of his most popular symphonies, which is pervaded in all movements by a central theme, the "fate motif".
