In the organizer's words:
On September 6, 1996, the first exhibition at the Erich Maria Remarque Peace Center entitled "Erich Maria Remarque. The way back" was shown.
The Remarque archive in the basement had not yet moved in and the permanent exhibition
and the permanent exhibition "Independence - Tolerance - Humor" on the life and work of the
author's life and work was still under construction. The center was officially opened in June 1998 on the 100th anniversary of the author's birth.
The anniversary exhibition "30 Years of the Erich Maria Remarque Peace Center" shows part of the first exhibition "The Way Back" and provides an insight into the activities of the Center over the last 30 years, during which more than 120 special exhibitions have been shown, several conferences, film weeks and numerous events have been held worldwide. Research findings and projects have been presented to the public in yearbooks published since 1989 and numerous other publications.
In addition, the Peace Center's worldwide network is presented, which has enabled cooperation and events from Canada to South Korea and South America.
