5 Jahre Klimabeschluss: Wie steht es um die Hitze und das Recht?

Five years after the Federal Constitutional Court's groundbreaking climate ruling, those involved in the proceedings will discuss the consequences for the climate, law and politics at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe.

In conversation with the panel guests, the event will look back and forward to the possibilities and limits of the law for climate protection, explore the often difficult relationship between the law and its implementation and ask what the commitment to the right to climate protection means for those who fight for it. Together with participants in the "climate lawsuit" of 2020/21, we will take a look behind the scenes of the proceedings: What interests were being negotiated in the proceedings? What exactly did the Federal Constitutional Court stipulate in its climate ruling and what has happened since then? What does this mean for the role of courts in climate protection and of law as an instrument for change?

Dr. Cord Brügmann (Director of the Stiftung Forum Recht) will discuss these and other questions:

-Prof. Dr. Remo Klinger, specialist lawyer for administrative law, lawyer for the "climate plaintiffs" of 2020/21, among others

- Marissa Reiserer, expert for mobility at Greenpeace

- Prof. Dr. Joachim Wieland, legal scholar, legal representative of the Federal Government in the 2020/2021 proceedings.

The event is a collaboration between the Stiftung Forum Recht, the Badisches Staatstheater and the theater collaborative Futur II Konjunktiv. The occasion is the revival of the play "Die Hitze und das Recht", which will take place after the event at 18:30 in the Insel, Karlstr. 49b.
