75. Jahre Genfer Flüchtlingskonvention: Lehren und Herausforderungen

75 years ago, states agreed on a common principle - and it still applies today: July marks the anniversary of the Geneva Refugee Convention.
After the horrors of the Second World War and the Holocaust, representatives of 26 countries agreed on binding rules for the protection of refugees in 1951. A milestone in international refugee protection: the Geneva Refugee Convention obliges states to protect people who are threatened in their home country: They must be granted rights and must not be sent back to where they face danger. Today, most countries in the world have recognized these principles. Since its adoption, the Convention has enabled the protection of millions of people worldwide.

The international protection system is currently under immense pressure. What lessons can be learned from 75 years of history? And what challenges lie ahead?

These questions will be discussed on a panel with speakers from the fields of practice and science. The evening will be accompanied by music.
