A Fox on the Fairway

Quick-witted dialogues, idiosyncratic characters and the wacky energy of American screwball comedies: with "A Fox on the Fairway", the Hamburg Players are presenting a fast-paced farce by US playwright Ken Ludwig at the Theater an der Marschnerstraße between 20 and 30 May.

There is more than just sporting ambition behind the annual golf tournament between the neighboring clubs "Quail Valley" and "Crouching Squirrel", as the two presidents Henry Bingham and Dickie Bell are sworn enemies. In a fit of spontaneous overconfidence, Henry bets not only his entire fortune but also his wife's antique store on Quail Valley's victory. Thanks to the surprising golfing talent of his assistant Justin, Henry's plan seems to be working - until Justin's slightly kooky fiancée Louise accidentally flushes his grandmother's wedding ring down the toilet. Will the desperate attempts to steer Justin's focus back onto the pitch work or will this year's trophy be won by the vain Dickie, driving Henry to ruin?

Every year the Quail Valley Country Club takes on their rival, Crouching Squirrel, in a tournament - but this year, there is more at stake than just the trophy. Henry Bingham bets his life savings and his wife's antique store against his rival Dickie. Luckily, he can rely on his new assistant Justin, a golf prodigy, to win the day. But when Justin finds out his fiancée Louise has accidentally flushed his grandmother's wedding ring down the toilet, his game falls apart. Will the frantic attempts to keep him focused save the day? Will Dickie keep the trophy? Or does Quail Valley have a secret weapon to outfox him?
