Abschiedsband - Elmar Zimmermann, Alex Wolkowicz, Ronny Lischinski, Sebastian Biskup, Yasmin Alt

The exhibition “Abschiedsband” was created as part of the 48h Neukölln art festival and features works by five artists: Yasmin Alt (Berlin), Sebastian Biskup (Berlin), Ronny Lischinski (Berlin), Alex Wolkowicz (NYC), and Elmar Zimmermann (Berlin). Using a wide variety of approaches, they engage with the festival’s theme, OUT/SIDE/IN. Through sculpture, photography, drawing, and painting—in ways that are analytical, poetic, playful, and conceptual—they each develop their own take on the theme, whether through the conception of the artistic process, references to literature, or the use of analogies.

The exhibition venue plays a key role in this context. For the first part of the exhibition, a historic fire truck serves as a display case; it is positioned precisely on the border between East and West Berlin on Bouchéstraße, near house number 70. Here around Bouchéstraße, there were numerous escape attempts and tunnels built to cross the border wall. The main exhibition is on view at the Kungerkiez Gallery (Karl-Kunger-Str. 15) in the Alt-Treptow district, just a few hundred meters away.
