Adam Linder's choreographies combine innovative approaches to movement, virtuosity and performativity, breaking with conventions and holding up a mirror to the discipline itself. So it is only fitting that he is now staging a meeting of live musicians and dancers together with the soloist ensemble Kaleidoskop. In "TOURNAMENT", the stage is transformed into a playing field on which five dancers and five musicians put the myth of harmonious unity between these two disciplines to the test to a commissioned composition by Ethan Braun. The music is a confrontation between acoustic and digital sound - the concreteness of a dog barking is juxtaposed with the abstraction of microtonal harmony. Agonism or competition underlies many creative impulses, and this work goes beyond an oppositional relationship to open a space for playful expression.
