ADFC Fahrrad-Sternfahrt NRW 2024

On the first Sunday in May, we will meet again in Düsseldorf for the big FahrradSternfahrt NRW with over 2,000 participants. After last year's reminder that the 1.5° climate target can only be achieved with us cyclists, we are demonstrating in 2024 with the motto Cycle paths for all - longer, wider, safer!

This year there are over 70 starting points on six branches and many other ramifications. The rally at Johannes-Rau-Platz starts at 2.30 p.m., followed by a joint 17 km demonstration route through the city center.

Cycle paths for everyone - longer, wider, safe for the necessary transport infrastructure. Only with a network of high-speed cycle paths between the centers, with wide cycle lanes in the inner cities and with safe cycle paths for everyone can we persuade people in the state to take the bicycle for a quarter of all their journeys - as we demanded five years ago in the popular initiative "Aufbruch Fahrrad" and as it is now set as a goal in the NRW Bicycle and Local Mobility Act. That was a great success on the political stage, now it's high time for implementation on the ground. There is still a huge lack of progress, for example the construction of five high-speed cycle paths, which were the winners of the 2013 planning competition and have now been delayed for over ten years. The huge gaps in the main cycle network and the postponed conflicts between car parking and quality space for cycling and walking in our cities. And the sometimes complete neglect of everyday cycling in rural areas.
