The festival cart of the cultural association Adieu Tristesse e.V. has picked up speed and will be virtually unstoppable in its fifth edition in 2025. On July 18 and 19, the off-road track at the old water reservoir between Altenmünster and Onolzheim once again promises top entertainment with musical speed thrills, daring dance maneuvers and culinary pit stops. After a sell-out last year, it's time to get your act together and secure tickets in advance.
Leading the field on Friday are the five very different gentlemen of MONOKINI from Middle Franconia. Since 1999, they have been celebrating the one great thing they can all agree on: Surf. Music with electric guitars and no vocals, but with great melodies, um-zacka-um-zack, twang and reverb, garnished with organ and trumpets. Music that paints pictures of waves and space, of westerns and agents, and that casually presses the accelerator pedal through the doormat. After three albums in LP format, MONOKINI entered new transoceanic territory with the release of the EP "Ultramar" in 2024, just in time for the full quarter of a century of existence, and accordingly have plenty of groove in the trunk.
DR. UMWUCHTS TANZPALAST take this with a kiss on the hand and mix twelve instruments with hundreds of ideas, danceable music between swing, punk, analog techno and Wannabe-Krautfolk, with German-language lyrics ranging from socially critical agitation to nonsense wisdoms and Dada performances. The sextet from Bamberg is at least as much a social experiment as a band and stands out with its peculiar mix of styles: pieces that somehow manage to reconcile double bass with synthesizer, sampler and saxophone. The completely vegan single Blumenwurst has attracted particular attention with almost 600,000 clicks on Spotify alone.
With DIKANDA, we are entering the home straight this Friday evening and are going to give it another go. Founded in 1997 in Szczecin, Poland, the collective has already spread their world music at over 2,000 concerts around the globe. The fiery, emotionally charged journey leads through diverse sounds, places and feelings and past the original sources of the Balkans, the Middle East, the Carpathians, the Orient and Africa. DIKANDA's universal message is not only conveyed through traditional folk songs, but above all through her unique musical narrative. This is not only served through sounds, but also through seemingly meaningless words - in a finely honed language of emotion and heart - a "Dikanda-esque" conclusion to the first day of the festival.
On Saturday, the festival continues with volle Umdrehung and EINS EINS LUXUS from Schwäbisch Hall and the surrounding area. The six musicians combine rocking punk, fast ska beats and Neue Deutsche Welle to create a rousing mix. With their concentrated energy, they focus on catchy melodies and profound lyrics. Their music is powerful, honest and full of passion. Always atmospheric and with plenty of glitter, they provide plenty of EINS EINS LUXUS on stage.
The COOGANS BLUFF space glider from Berlin is going on tour again. What once began with stoner rock has long since become an institution and spearhead in the retro universe, forcing the media to make more and more daring comparisons and music style legos: "Krautrock psychedelia" (Rolling Stone), "space'n'blues rock" (Schall Magazin), an "interplanetary hidden object picture" (Visions) or yet "a colorful mixture of retro and hard rock, enriched not too scarcely with the elements of prog, kraut, psychedelic and brass rock" (Babyblaue Seite). The band itself sums it all up in one word: "Balada", the album title of the current album by 2024 - a Portuguese-Brazilian expression used for celebration, party or dancing - stands for the joy of playing and unites everything in one word.
In the hands of PAD BRAPAD from the French capital, the black-and-white checkered festival flag becomes a colourful all-rounder: after over 400 concerts throughout Europe, they recently released their fifth album "Strikes Again!" and continue their furious mix of Balkan music and urban hip-hop and electro music. An explosive groove-Balkan fusion, a unique urban-Tzigan sound that is unparalleled in the French music scene and will hit the old water reservoir in Hohenlohe at full blast. In a nocturnal, dense, creaking and dancing universe, the music takes shape and comes to life. Part B-movie, part horror film, part Z-movie, part comic: PAD BRAPAD are creating a new electro-Balkan fusion genre.
In 2025, the AdieuTristessetival should also be a festival for everyone. Fast-paced, peaceful and diverse in terms of encounters, exchanges, celebrations and culinary delights. Whether you're a wheel off or a fifth wheel on the wagon, it's best to roll together. Speaking of wagons: parking spaces at Altenmünster cemetery will be signposted.
Admission on Friday will be at 5.00 pm, on Saturday the gates will open at 4.00 pm. Free admission for children and young people up to and including the age of 16.
Press the button now and secure your spot on the festival site. Tickets are available in advance online at https://t.rausgegangen.de/tickets/adieutristessetival-2025 or on site at the 7180 Bar, the Findling and the Schnelldruckladen, all in Crailsheim.
