Adventszeit St. Markus

Organic mulled wine, cranberry punch and regional delicacies - the small but cozy Christmas market in front of St. Mark's Church is once again offering many regional and sustainable products this year.

With its colorful stalls, many fir trees and a historic carousel, the Christmas market is a cozy alternative to the large, sprawling markets in the city. As in previous years, 2023 will also offer a fine program for young and old. Wednesday afternoon is reserved for our young guests and will be visited by artists, puppeteers and other surprise guests. Thursday heralds the start of the weekend with after-work sounds.

Nostalgic flair and regionality

Above all, nostalgia and sustainability characterize the familiar, cozy Advent market. Visitors and guests will find regional products, fairly produced goods and lots of activities with and for children. The nostalgic children's carousel will make the little ones' eyes light up, while Christmas classics such as crêpes and lard cookies, as well as organic mulled wine, cranberry punch, cocoa and many other regional delicacies will tantalize the taste buds of young and old. The red mulled wine in organic quality contains less sugar and is also supplied in 1000-liter containers, which significantly reduces packaging waste. And the homemade apple punch is produced with juice from "Das Geld hängt an den Bäumen" (The money hangs on the trees) and thus supports social projects in the city.

Charity campaign for homeless people

A major concern of St. Mark's Advent season is to support charitable causes and do good: true to the spirit of Christmas. Under the motto "Pack your parcel", all visitors are invited during Advent to hand in gift packages for homeless people at the mulled wine stand and in the church, which the organizer bjp will hand over to those in need at the traditional Hamburg Christmas dinner in the Hofbräuhaus.

Hygiene and care products as well as warm clothing and accessories & soul-warming items such as pictures and sweets are traditionally gratefully accepted.
