Sitar samples, funk breaks and clattering, unsettling vocals are just some of the ingredients that The Gaslamp Killer (GLK) draws on to create breathtaking sound collages. Sci-fi jazz or simply psychedelic - the stylistic terms attached to William Benjamin Bensussen aka The Gaslamp Killer are many and varied. He himself calls the obscure mixture of old and new, known and unknown that he has been concocting since 2006 "instrumental psych dirty beats". His DJ sets are unpredictable and range from soul and funk to dubstep, bass-heavy instrumental hip hop, Middle Eastern rare grooves and cumbia to the dirtiest and most rocking breakbeats imaginable. GLK doesn't just play sets, he creates the most exciting collages and lives in the music that grips and shakes him with every fiber. This beast of pure energy on the turntables regularly causes outbursts of euphoria in the audience.
