Akos Doma: Das Haus in Limone

Gabriel Berger goes to Italy for a weekend to sell his vacation home on Lake Garda, which he hasn't set foot in for a year and a half. He is in his early fifties and wants to say goodbye, as he says, but meets the student Nella, who reminds him of his former love Ana. The two spend the day together by the lake, and Gabriel finds himself transported back to his past, while Nella is attracted to the man who has fallen out of time. When he wakes up the next morning, he discovers an unknown woman in his hotel room. She is upset and worried because her husband has been missing for days. Intrigued by the mysterious woman, Gabriel sets off with her on a search. The trail leads to a terrible event that happened a year and a half earlier - and to Gabriel's house by the lake.

"The House in Limone" is a literary puzzle about man and woman in which nothing is as it seems, a labyrinthine journey into the heart of a man - and a swan song to the legacy of '68.

He studied English, American and German language and literature in Munich and Eichstätt, where he received his doctorate in 1994. He is an author and translator from Hungarian (including Péter Nádas, Sándor Márai, László F. Földényi). He was awarded the Chamisso Prize in 2012 for his outsider comedy "Die allgemeine Tauglichkeit". His latest novel "Der Weg der Wünsche" was longlisted for the German Book Prize in 2016.
