AL ISRA / DIE NACHTFAHRT – Eine musikalische Reise zu den gemeinsamen Wurzeln von Abendland und Orient

In the organizer's words:

On the musical journey of NACHTFAHRT, two cultures meet in search of common roots that reach right up to the present day.

Inspired by the parallels between Dante's "Divine Comedy" and Ibn Arabi's "kitap al Isra" ("Book of the Night Journey"), the idea of a concert was born, which is oriented towards the "Divine Comedy" in terms of form and content and at the same time contains an artistic reflection on the confrontation and interaction of cultures.

The Lux Orientis ensemble consists of five musicians specializing in early music and/or traditional Arabic music. Guests complement the program with additional instruments and performative elements - including dervish dance and incense.

At NACHTFAHRT, the music of the Middle Ages and Ars nova as well as Arabic art music and improvisations interact with each other. Different musical stations await the audience, which correspond to hell, the mountain of purification and paradise. The multi-sensory journey of the concert represents the inner development of the human being from detachment to transcendence.
