Revolution on the keys

Anyone who wins the junior section of the legendary International Tchaikovsky Competition at the age of 13 is under special scrutiny. Almost ten years later, Alexander Malofeev still fulfills the expectations associated with this with flying colours. Since then, the Russian, described by the Wiener Standard as a "world revolution on the piano", has collected numerous other prizes and performed with the world's greatest orchestras, standing in for Yevgeny Kissin with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra in 2022. "The audience went wild with enthusiasm," wrote the Frankfurter Rundschau newspaper. At the Elbphilharmonie, the still only 24-year-old is now devoting himself to both the grand masters of Russian piano music and darkly dazzling works from Northern Europe.
