AlleSerlaubt - Konzertreihe, Nr. 1: Koenig & Mehner

The “AlleSerlaubt” concert series features professional improvisational musicians from North Rhine-Westphalia who are young mothers. The Rabbit Hole Theater provides the ideal setting for these performances in a family-friendly and warm atmosphere. Each duo concert consists of two 30-minute sets and a 20-minute intermission.

The first concert will feature Katharina Koenig on accordion and Raissa Mehner on guitar. With their nuanced and contrasting sounds, they draw attention, among other things, to the imbalance whereby young female musicians and mothers with caregiving responsibilities are underrepresented in the independent music scene. The musicians are free to shape their artistic performance as they see fit, but the curators encourage them to focus on quieter, “deep listening” sounds to create a comfortable atmosphere with appropriate volume levels, even for babies and toddlers in attendance.

Everyone is warmly invited to the concerts; therefore, there is no set admission fee—tickets can be purchased on a “pay-what-you-want” basis for any amount of your choice, with proceeds benefiting the musicians.
