Emotions on the Camino: on his moving journey on foot through Spain, Sascha Günther experiences the power of nature and the deep bond between pilgrims. Strangers become friends within a very short time. Ten years after this first pilgrimage experience, the filmmaker sets off again in search of the very people who made such an impression on him.

From Ulm to the Atlantic - encounters on the Way of St. James
This very personal documentary accompanies pilgrims on various sections of the Way of St. James. Breathtaking landscapes and profound conversations with people from Germany, France, Spain and the USA. After Ulm Minster and Notre Dame in Paris, the focus is on the Camino del Norte (Basque Country & Cantabria) and the Camino Primitivo (Asturias & Galicia). Along the yellow arrows through the whole of Spain - all the way to the sea.
Music as an expression of the soul
Music plays a central role. The soundtrack was composed by pilgrims and produced under the direction of Jens Eckhoff ("Wir sind Helden") and the filmmaker himself. The songs emphasize the emotions and the spiritual dimension of the pilgrimage. Greg Taro was invited as a guest singer.
Community and self-discovery along the way
ALMAR shows how the Way of St. James brings people together in a sustainable way and helps them to find themselves. The film is also a tribute to the power of music to unite people from different backgrounds and cultures.
