„Als meine Migrant Mama mir zeigte, dass…“ Eine partizipative Performance von „My Migrant Mama“ und „much cooler than yours“

In the organizer's words:

"When my migrant mom showed me that..." is a participatory performance by My Migrant Mama and much cooler than yours. Based on their experiences as mothers with a history of migration, Melisa and Dami create a space in which memory, care and intergenerational exchange take center stage. Together with the audience, they explore questions: How are stories, imprints, gestures and forms of knowledge passed on and how do they continue to have an effect on us?

Drinking tea, painting nails and reading together creates an intimate space for exchange. Personal memories are shared, new connections are made and different experiences of migration, family and care are brought together.

My Migrant Mama is much cooler than yours. Two projects, same mission. One celebrates. The other empowers. Both fight for the same love: to reshape the migration narrative with their protagonists. My Migrant Mama celebrates migration by offering authentic storytelling products - made by migrants. Through intergenerational dialog and high-quality design, MMM creates a new migration narrative. As a subsidiary organization, much cooler than yours empowers the mission by developing tools for migrant self-empowerment to tell our stories ourselves.

Melisa from MMM and Dami from mcty - both migrant moms - will be at the Humboldtforum and are looking forward to meeting you. Come by, make yourselves comfortable and tell us about your world. We will create space for intimate conversations about migration, memory and what we carry from our mothers - sometimes with tea in hand, sometimes with nail polish, or simply cozy on the carpet.
