Aluk Todolo + Spirit Possession

We are delighted to welcome ALUK TODOLO again. As in 2024, we are the only place in Germany that they will be playing on their short tour. Anyone who experienced ALUK TODOLO with us in May 2024 already knows that their world takes place outside the linguistically tangible - but we would still like to try: The name ALUK TODOLO comes from a gerbirg region in South Sulawesi (Indonesia) and refers to an ancient animist religion: "The Way of the Ancestors". The three Parisians have been creating their "Occult Rock" since 2004. Their music can be described as a methodical exploration of the power of musical trance. They successfully and organically fuse the driving, captivating rhythms of their dirty krautrock with the abysmal, discordant guitar sounds of their occult black metal. The reduced instrumentation of their improvisation of dry percussion and the scratching, screeching and shimmering sounds of guitar and bass sprout pulsating veins of black bile into psychedelic dimensions. Aluk Todolo's sound spectrum is monolithic and piercing, hypnotic but unpredictable, minimalist and yet densely interwoven: an inescapable tentacle that inevitably draws you to the "other side" in a threatening, poisonous embrace.

SPRIT POSSESSION have been causing an international sensation since their 2020 debut "Spirit Possession". The power duo mixes sparkling heavy metal with virtuoso raw black metal in a very organic way. In August, guitarist and singer Steve Peacock (known for Mastery, among others) was with us with Ulthar and is now returning in May with Black Curse. Only one month later he returns with Ash Spungin (Vouna, Taurus, Ormus) as SPRIT POSSESSION. Spungin builds the synthesizers used on the new album herself - a skill she brought with her from her solo project Ormus. The different musical backgrounds of the two are certainly one reason for the dense, hard-to-penetrate sound fabric of angular riffs, jangling leads, brute, intrusive drums and barking caveman screams.
