Am I comfortable enough? - Anja Demidova & Ensemble

The performance "Am I comfortable enough?" is a critical examination of patriarchal culture and the norms it imposes on women. In order to be "accepted", women are expected to look and behave in a certain way, suppressing assertiveness, aggressiveness, tenacity and the expression of personal opinions and boundaries - in order to be comfortable. The creators of the performance believe that "comfortable" is a characteristic of furniture and not of people.

The aim of the project is not only to highlight the deep-rooted stereotypes and expectations of women, but also to encourage a dialog about gender equality, respect and the recognition of women's right to express their feelings and opinions and draw personal boundaries without fear of condemnation or rejection. The performance aims to encourage reflection on the societal norms that limit women's roles and identities and to encourage a re-evaluation of what it means to be 'comfortable' in a gendered context.

Following the screening, we will host a one-hour discussion moderated by Leonie Moos, partner at ignore gravity & Grace Accelerator. Leonie is passionate about new business ideas and their impact on business and society, focusing on women empowerment, entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship. Grace stands for Female Entrepreneurship, Empowerment and Diversity and supports women in leadership positions and those with entrepreneurial ambitions.

The discussion will be led by an esteemed panel of speakers:

• Paulina Jänsch, founding partner of Leanox Impact Capital, impact investing financial expert and mentor to various startup organizations, NGOs and universities. Paulina is a leading voice for women's empowerment and is known for her inclusive and empathetic leadership style.
• Stephanie von Behr, Executive Director of Founderland, a non-profit organization that supports women founders who face challenges due to race and ethnicity and is backed by Google, AWS, Techstars and R/GA.
• Angelica Conraths, founder and CEO of fembites GmbH, which is revolutionizing the women's health market with science-based supplements for hormonal health and has been recognized as one of Germany's most innovative women by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
• Bruna Silva, founder and managing director of International Women in Berlin, which is committed to supporting and networking women in Berlin.
