A story about a journey of discovery, the search for adventure and for the self. Anselm traveled across the African continent on his bicycle alone. 15,000 kilometers, 414 days, 15 countries.

(Anselm Pahnke is a geophysicist, adventurer and cameraman. On his journey through Africa, he was confronted with his deepest fears and at the same time discovered his strengths. The countless kilometers on his bike are not just a journey through Africa, they are also a great learning journey for himself. His uncertainty developed into a trusting vigilance and the confidence to reach his next destination: Asia and the roof of the world, where his journey came to an abrupt end after three years).

Suddenly separated from his two companions, Anselm Pahnke ventured alone into the South African Kalahari Desert - on his bicycle. Step by step, his breathtaking journey through the African continent unfolds, always close to the people and nature. Not buying water, traveling under his own steam, camping in the wild despite wild animals - Africa is unpredictable and challenging.
But even after serious illnesses and 3,000 kilometers against the wind through the Sahara, one thing is clear: Africa is also powerful, colourful and full of life. Anselm developed a deep love for this vast continent, a profound trust in his fellow human beings and himself, and the realization that you don't have to be lonely on your own. His uncertainty developed into a trusting vigilance and the confidence to reach his next destination: Asia and the roof of the world, where his journey came to an abrupt end after three years.

With around 100,000 moviegoers, Anderswo. Alone in Africa is one of the most successful documentaries of 2019 and was awarded the Gilde Filmpreis in the category "Best Documentary 2019" at the Filmkunstmesse in Leipzig.
