Andrei Dmitrenko: As If a Tiny Hoof Turned Me Into a Goat

In the organizer's words:

The performance "As If a Tiny Hoof Turned Me Into a Goat" follows the logic of a folk tale. It unfolds in a fragile tension between sadness, anticipation, deep melancholy, childlike naivety, absurdity and the irreversibility of transformation.
During the performance, the poem "And Here We Are Again" is recited repeatedly. This constant repetition creates an obsessive loop that gradually builds up tension and transforms the text into a kind of incantation, as if to turn back time.

The idea goes back to the figure of the poet Gor'usha, who died some time ago from an HIV-related illness. With his prior consent, his poems continue to appear in Andrei Dmitrenko's works.

What emerges is an impossible presence: a silent testimony of someone who has already become a memory.
The performance "As If a Tiny Hoof Turned Me Into a Goat" is part of the exhibition Inter(-)Views, which can be seen at the HGB Gallery until June 3 (Tues.-Fri. 2-6 p.m.).
