Angie McMahon

In the organizer's words:

Angie McMahon had to go through fire to record her new album "Light, Dark, Light Again". The Melbourne singer-songwriter's second LP was written from the ashes of some tough but transformative years full of relationship changes, personal breakdowns and shattering realizations about herself. At times, McMahon felt like she was falling apart. But instead, she bit through and found that hope, joy and relief lie on the other side of pain.

While McMahon's acclaimed 2019 debut album was restrained and gentle, for "Light, Dark, Light Again" she wanted to see how big she could get with her sound. As co-producer, McMahon steered the sound from start to finish. The vision was to create songs that were warm, cosmic and expansive. At the same time, McMahon wanted to preserve the intimacy of the way many of her songs were written - alone in her bedroom, as home demos shared only with friends over two largely isolated years during the pandemic.

"Light, Dark, Light Again" is a thoughtful work, recorded slowly and purposefully over the course of a year, partly in collaboration with respected Grammy-nominated producer and songwriter Brad Cook, who has produced for artists such as Bon Iver, Waxahatchee, Kevin Morby and Snail Mail.

Angie McMahon will present her new album for us at an exclusive concert in Berlin in July 2024.
