Anna Berry: The Constantly Moving Happiness Machine

FC Dahlem is a new research and presentation site of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation (SPK). The aim is to make knowledge about material and immaterial cultures visible through networked competencies. The focus is on transparent research processes, the participation of various interest groups and the dismantling of knowledge hierarchies. The work is based on the key concepts: "Cultures - Research - Things - Knowledge".

A current example of this is the art installation "The Constantly Moving Happiness Machine" by Anna Berry, which expands the ThinkSpace "Time & Temporality". In it, the artist addresses the interdependence of time, consumption and manipulation and critically questions the mechanisms of our economic system - in particular the acceleration of consumption and the constant creation of new needs. With her work, Berry invites visitors to reflect on their role as consumers and their unconscious participation in global capitalism.

The installation is complemented by photographs from Berry's Corona series and still lifes, in which she reinterprets classic motifs in a humorous yet profound way. With a keen sense for the absurd in the everyday, she invites us to engage with our present in a playful yet thought-provoking way.
