Anna no longer wanted to. And now she is in a sanatorium. There she meets Elif, who makes up a new fairy tale every day. She meets Marija, who constantly monologues about her dead mother. She meets the soldier Katharina, who drinks red wine with vodka every night. And then there is the flamingo from the spa gardens, whom Anna tells about her emigration. But above all, she talks to her bird about love every day. Because love is everywhere, especially in such a strange place as a clinic.

Anna Prizkau elegantly tells of people who seek happiness without really wanting to find it. Of strangers. Of the lost. Of roles and expectations. And always about the power of storytelling.

Anna Prizkau worked for many years as an editor at the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung. Her short story collection Fast ein neues Leben was published in 2020 and was awarded the Literature Prize of the State Capital of Hanover.

Lisa Kreißler studied theater studies in Erlangen and literary writing in Leipzig. She is the author of three novels and works as a literary critic and baker.
