A narrative theater program freely adapted from Jean Giono.
In her program "The Man Who Planted Trees", storyteller Antonella Simonetti brings an entire work to the stage as narrative theater for the first time. Loosely based on a literary model by Jean Giono, she tells the story of a man who created a paradise out of a barren landscape. He created a living space in a wasteland. He created a happy and contented life for people. What this man did was motivated by a deep desire to give. He spent his time without measuring it in terms of profit, his actions were hidden, the reasons were secret. He did not speak, because it was not necessary. He had a precise plan, protecting the sanctity of life and keeping it in his heart was tantamount to protecting and executing it.
"In this day and age, it is almost impossible to imagine any phenomenon or action without the judgment or opinion of others, without likes, or reactions that it evokes. Likewise, it seems absurd to imagine a life that is not linked to the categories of right or wrong, punishment or reward. "The man who planted trees" did not know these categories. I was fascinated by this man's story from the moment I read it. There is no story more relevant and necessary than this one. Resilience, generosity, greatness of soul, perseverance and focus. All qualities that seem outdated but are necessary to turn any desert into a paradise," says Antonella Simonetti, describing her program.
"The Man Who Planted Trees" is a narrative theater play. A unique story with a duration of approx. 60 minutes, in which the plot is interwoven with musical interludes.
