Heilbronn - an archaeological treasure trove
The greater Heilbronn area is one of the richest archaeological landscapes in Germany. Over the millennia, there is evidence of almost complete settlement. Fertile soils, the convenient location and the friendly climate attract people today as they did in the past.
Long-forgotten settlement sites therefore overlap with today's land requirements. In the last 150 years in particular, intensive construction work and changes in cultivation methods have made numerous archaeological excavations necessary in order to document the old structures before they were destroyed.
