Architektur Sommer: Design Talk - Interior Design und Innenarchitektur
PICK OF THE DAY
You cannot miss this event.
In the organizer's words:
Architecture and design meet directly in the interior - but what is the difference between interior architecture and interior design? The Design Talk addresses current issues at this interface and brings together different perspectives. The focus is on impulses, discussion and exchange with the audience.
As a design center, we - just like our visitors - are primarily interested in the design perspective. Architecture and design overlap in interior design in particular, and the question always arises as to whether interior architecture and interior design mean the same thing. Although the terms are often used interchangeably, they have different focuses: In addition to design, interior architecture also incorporates the structural, technical and functional requirements of interior spaces. Interior design focuses more on the aesthetic formulation, such as furnishings, materials, color and lighting effects as well as the atmosphere of a room. The talk takes a look at both approaches and works out the similarities and differences between them.
The event is a regular part of the program at the Design Zentrum. Each evening is dedicated to a specific topic to which two to three guests are invited. They are each given around 20 minutes to present their position in a talk - supported by a presentation or a monitor if required. The contributions are then linked together in a moderated manner and transferred to an open discussion round before the audience is involved with questions and their own contributions. This creates a format of short impulses, moderated discussion and joint debate.
