Architektur Sommer: RE-CYCLING Orte zukunftsfähigen Bauenes und Denkens
PICK OF THE DAY
You cannot miss this event.
In the organizer's words:
As part of the Hamburg Architecture Summer 2026, two cycle routes lead to six examples of sustainable building culture. Short keynote speeches directly at the stations will address topics such as RE-think, RE-use and RE-vitalization and make ecological, social and material transformations in urban space tangible.
The Young Architects Working Group and the Sustainability Working Group of the Hamburg Chamber of Architects, in cooperation with the Hamburg Foundation for Building Culture (HSBK), are inviting you to a joint tour through Hamburg. Under the title "RE-CYCLING", ways to a sustainable, resource-conserving building culture are literally "experienced" - outdoors, on site and in motion. The two different routes connect a total of six selected projects that exemplify current transformation processes in construction. Key concepts such as RE-think, RE-use, RE-purpose, RE-cycle and RE-vitalization provide the thematic framework and show how existing buildings can be reinterpreted, reused and transferred into new usage concepts.
Each route comprises three stops and is offered on three dates. The tours last around 3 to 4 hours and cover a distance of around 8 to 10 kilometers. Participation is limited to a maximum of 20 people per date; registration is required by e-mail to akja.hamburg@gmail.com. Registration is possible at least one week before the tour date.
Tour 1 takes place on 09.05.2026, 13.06.2026 and 11.07.2026 and leads to the projects Schrott bewahre, Energiebunker and Wilhelmsburger Zinnwerke.
Tour 2 will be offered on 23.05.2026, 27.06.2026 and 25.07.2026 and will visit Moringa, Gröninger Hof and Neues Amt Altona.
At the individual stops, project managers or participants will present their projects in short inputs. The focus will be on cradle-to-cradle, revitalization, social sustainability, community-oriented uses, material rescue, the reduction of pollutants and the critical questioning of traditional planning and construction processes. The last stop of each tour also provides an opportunity for discussion and a relaxed end to the tour.
