Architektur Sommer: Rundgang über historische Bunker
PICK OF THE DAY
You cannot miss this event.
In the organizer's words:
Guided tour of the historic flak tower with a visit to the former replacement command post on the roof of the combat bunker. The route leads along the mountain path of the "Green Bunker"; the history of the building and the greening and planting concept are explained. At the end, there will be a picture presentation in the club rooms.
The Hilldegarden Association offers the only officially authorized guided tours of the bunker. The focus is on its origins, its functions as a combat bunker and shelter for the (German) civilian population during the Second World War and the development of the building in the post-war period up to the present day. The tours also address the fact that the extent to which forced laborers were used during construction and in the surrounding area is still being researched.
A special part of the tour is access to the former replacement control room on the roof - the only area that has remained completely unchanged from the Nazi era. In addition, the history of the "green construction" is traced: from the original idea to political and neighborhood debates to the intensive participation of local residents, from which the association ultimately emerged. The professional façade and roof greening with the special requirements for the plants in this climatically demanding location and the sophisticated rainwater management are also explained.
The guided tours are conducted by experienced, committed volunteers from the non-profit association and can be adapted to the needs of the respective group. Apart from entering the control room, the tour is barrier-free.
