Artenkenntniskurs Wildbienen I – Grundlagen

The basic course is open to anyone in Dresden with an interest in wild bees. Important basics are taught such as the differences between solitary and social bees, definitions of terms, naming of body parts for the use of identification tools, biology, way of life, typical identification features of solitary wild bee species, introduction to population-friendly identification, e.g. using photos or observations in the field. In the practical part, the knowledge gained is applied and deepened using wild bee species that are easy to observe and identify. By the end of the course, you should be able to distinguish wild bees from closely related insect groups and honey bees.

The course consists of a theoretical part, followed by a lunch break and a short outdoor excursion. In case of bad weather there will be an alternative for the excursion, the course will not be canceled.

The course is aimed at interested private individuals from Saxony. The number of places available is limited to 15 people. Participation is only possible with confirmed registration.

The basic course is part of a species knowledge training series of the BienenBrückenBauen project. Building on the basic course, you can deepen your knowledge of the species by attending the advanced course and the specialist course.
