2026 marks 20 years of "arti" - the art prize for Wolfsburg artists. We cordially invite you to the award ceremony and exhibition opening with all nominees on May 21 at 7 pm!
Anka Blank, Dilara Cansi, Joachim Nita, Sophie Olive-Kuipers, Hannah Ott, Monika Salmanyan, Walter Winter and Marie-Lena Zahn were selected for the shortlist by a high-caliber jury.
They will all present their works in the exhibition. Doris Weiß (Deputy Chairwoman of the Board, Kunstverein Wolfsburg) will select the three winners from the shortlist on the day of the opening. Angelika Jahns (Mayor, City of Wolfsburg), Carsten Müller (Volksbank BRAWO) and Rita Werneyer (Volkswagen Group, Spokesperson for Society and Culture) will speak.
Magdalena Ehlers and Maik Kronhart will provide the musical backdrop to the award ceremony with piano and vocals.
"The world as a mosaic" is the theme of arti 2026, which all of the works on display deal with. Not only do the approaches to the theme differ, but a broad spectrum of media is also represented: Painting, objects, ceramics, photography or sound. The ancient technique of the mosaic stands for man's ability to combine different elements into a unity. The initial disorder is transformed into a convincing order. The exhibition of the nominees also shows very heterogeneous positions that are linked by the theme. In addition - and this is a prerequisite for participation - all the artists are based in Wolfsburg. The "arti" exhibition, which takes place every two years, proves how lively the Wolfsburg art scene is and promotes its visibility. The catalog that accompanies each arti exhibition also contributes to this.
Parallel to the "arti", our art education team Lokale Liaison is once again organizing the "arteen", the art prize for Wolfsburg children and young people. The exhibition also opens on May 21 from 7 p.m. in the Raum für Freunde, this year's theme is "piece by piece - the world reassembled". The "arteen" award ceremony will take place on 14.06. at 4 pm.
