Jan Bräumer pursues a radical strategy of simplification in his painting. His pictorial worlds are reduced and often appear like pictograms with clear forms and sparse colors. The choice of motifs remains deliberately undogmatic. Bärmer's use of language is striking. Title and image enter into a close interplay, in which the banal suddenly gains significance, while the supposedly significant tips over into the ironic.
