Artist Talk »Schwarze Kreativität und der Weg zum Erfolg«

In the organizer's words:

On February 6, 2026, the Artist Talk "Black Creativity and the Path to Success" invites you to an open exchange on artistic practice, self-employment and structural challenges of Black creatives in Germany as part of Black History Month Hamburg. The focus will be on personal careers, creative processes and the influence of society and the media on visibility, success and economic decisions.

The talk brings together creatives from the fields of painting, music, fashion and film and makes different perspectives and spaces of experience visible. Also taking part:

Isyah Asher is an artist who grew up in Hamburg, is self-taught in abstract painting and sculpture and now exhibits internationally.

Oceana is a musician, singer-songwriter and actress from Hamburg who became famous with international chart successes and now works across genres in music, film and television.

Yolander James is an entrepreneur, fashion designer and founder of Schnittdesign Hamburg and has been supporting creative people - especially fashion label founders - on their way to self-employment for over 15 years.

David Odiase is a transdisciplinary poet and member of the African Narrative Collective, whose work combines poetry, performance, film and speculative methods and critically questions dominant narratives.

The evening will be moderated by poetess, author and presenter Anna van Hoorn aka Tinapu, whose work is strongly influenced by English-based Pidgin from Liberia.
