Oblivion
Music/Tango Nuevo Astor Piazzolla's music lives on! For over twenty years, the Quinteto Astor Piazzolla has made it possible to experience the works of the Argentinian tango revolutionary true to the original. In 2025, they will present their new album "Oblivion". True to their mission to present the music of the old master as Piazzolla would sound today, they have some lesser-known pieces in their luggage that the audience has never heard before. Ticket buyers can look forward to a Piazzolla experience in a class of its own.
As the only formation that has access to Piazzolla's entire artistic legacy, the five brilliant musicians explore the diversity of a magnificent oeuvre. Deeply influenced by classical music, the composer and bandoneon virtuoso once created a tonal kaleidoscope of rousing rhythms and melodic diversity around the central idea of tango nuevo. He artfully wove the characteristics of a folkloristic style into grand arrangements, creating a legacy that is as provocative as it is stunningly beautiful. The quintet is now able to bring these sophisticated harmonic structures to a new generation with dedication. Piazzolla's work is as surprising and fascinating as ever - and is as ahead of its time then as it is now.
Pablo Mainetti (bandoneon)
Nicolás Guerschberg (piano)
Serdar Geldymuradov (violin)
Armando de la Vega (guitar)
Daniel Falasca (double bass)
