Astro y Fe – Gruppenausstellung als Reaktion auf das jüngste Erdbeben in Venezuela. Eine temporäre Infrastruktur der Solidarität

In the midst of the sky, we weave networks that connect territories, communities, and forms of collaboration. Astro y Fe begins with a simple linguistic gesture: the Spanish word catástrofe (catastrophe) is split into two fragments. Rather than directly naming the catastrophe, the exhibition turns its gaze to what may emerge from its aftermath: orientation (astro) and trust/faith (fe). Developed in response to the recent earthquake in Venezuela, Astro y Fe sees itself as a temporary infrastructure of solidarity through which artists, organizations, and communities mobilize artworks, resources, and knowledge to support ongoing processes of aid, reconstruction, and renewal.

The exhibition brings together works by Venezuelan artists living both in Venezuela and in the diaspora, presenting works in media such as photography, printmaking, assemblages, video, and installation. Astro y Fe expands existing networks of support and echoes a collective call for solidarity. The works, generously provided by the artists, directly benefit initiatives dedicated to humanitarian aid, reconstruction, and community care. Throughout the exhibition, information booths, public discussions, and events will be held in collaboration with organizations active in emergency aid, reconstruction, and community work, both in Venezuela and in the diaspora. Together, these programs create opportunities for exchanging knowledge, sharing resources, and developing new strategies for care.

Proceeds from the exhibition will be channeled through the artists’ organizationTres Pasos and partner organizations, including Cáritas Venezuela. Astro y Fe sees itself as a cycle of solidarity in which art becomes part of a larger civil society infrastructure for encounter, care, and collective action.

As an evolving initiative, the exhibition is continually incorporating new artworks, partnerships, and collaborations with organizations. The list of participating artists is growing steadily as additional contributions are received from Venezuela and from Venezuelan artists abroad. The final list of participating artists, organizations, and information about the accompanying program will be announced shortly before the exhibition opens.
